I stayed at the Maverick Hostel while on a trip to Budapest with my dad. There are at least two sections in this hostel (and I believe the Maverick owns two hostels in Budapest)- the youth section and the private rooms. My dad and I stayed in the private rooms (which offered a full bed for him, and I slept on a movable twin, which was very comfortable!) and we had our own bathroom. However, we did get to use the communal showers in the youth section, and they were very clean and well laid out.

The staff was super friendly and helpful- I actually talked to the front desk people quite a bit and all of them spoke wonderful English! (Sorry, I do not speak much Hungarian.) They had a great knowledge of the city, and most if not all nights there was something going on, hosted by the hostel itself (pub crawls, palinka tastings.) I spent one night in the lobby with people my own age, for a palinka tasting. It was really neat to meet new people, and try the local liquor.

The private rooms were quiet, comfortable, and ours was a nice size. Our room looked right into the street, which was a lovely view. The hotel offered free wifi, and had computers for use. The Maverick also had a reasonably priced laundry service.

The hostel itself is in an old mansion, which was pretty cool. It is also located walking distance from many restaurants and shops, and also across from the Ferenciek tere metro station, which leads to other places in the city.

If a trip to Budapest is in your future, I highly recommend the Maverick Hostel. I can not say enough nice things about it!

Really enjoyed my stay. The staff were helpful and friendly. This modern hostel has very good beds and the dorm rooms are of a high class. Plenty of places to eat and drink near all at low prices. Well done Maverick

I enjoyed staying at this hostel, the location was great, security was pretty great too, you had a large locker outside and a small locker in your room for basic essentials. It seems like the staff may not have a good system because my second night in I came in to someone in my bed which was kind of annoying. And (at least the room I was in) the sensor lights in the bathroom would go off as you were in the shower/going to bathroom, this happened like every 2-3 min. Minor issues, but good hostel.

Stayed in this hostel during the Budapest marathon weekend and it was great. Rooms and bathrooms are clean and the kitchen is also pretty well stocked. Reception are helpful and friendly giving us an adapted when we had forgotten ours.
Good location too as its easy to get anywhere.
Overall its really good value for money!

A great hostel in a fantastic location. My only small complaint would be that there were only two showers on the whole floor so often you had to wait awhile to use one. Also the walls are paper thin so noise coming from other rooms was sometimes an issue. Other than that the place was great, staff were friendly, and it was very clean.

The hostel is right next to the metro and within minutes walk to the river. You can definitely walk to all the major tourist attractions from this hostel. There are no bunk beds and there are sockets for every bed. The bathroom and shower area is very spacious and private. The hostel itself is located in a traditional-feeling Budapest building which is pretty cool. The WiFi was also pretty fast.

We stayed two nights at Maverick. Attila greeted us and was very helpful. The rest of the staff was as well. We had an early departure flight and they arranged for the taxi at 6am. Our room was clean, quiet and love the whole Big Lebowski theme - especially since I watched that movie on my flight over! Location was convenient - we walk everywhere and I ran from here to and around Margaret Island. Great linear park along the river so ran right past Parliament building and Shoes on the Danube. Restaurants and stores very close. Highly recommend.

Great Hostel just to the south of Pest town centre. Well located for those coming in by plane or train. It is just off a station on the M3 line. Staff are helpful and cheerful and the rooms are spacious. We had booked a private for the 2 of us and they gave us a 5 bed dorm to ourselves! If you are coming to Budapest this is a great place to stay! P.s. if you are a Big Lebowski fan this place is for you!

Very clean! Single beds, no bunks which is amazing. In a renovated palace very near all the tourist hot spots. Well equipped kitchen in each pod of rooms and free tea and coffee! Not very many bathrooms and hot water came and went. The pub crawl was fun. Would recommend.

Beautiful old building in an excellent location. Very easy to find, coming from the train station using the metro.

The room we had did not have air conditioning, but as it was winter, that was fine. Although it had a ceiling fan and a window, I wonder if it would be a little stuffy if the weather was warmer. Both room and the attached bathroom were clean. We did not get any housekeeping and it was only on our last day that we discovered we needed to hang a sign on our door if we wanted the service.

The staff were lovely. Very warm, friendly and helpful.

I would definitely book Maverick Hostel again if I were to return to Budapest for another visit.
